Million Pound Home
Virginia Water in Surrey has been named as the UK’s number one property millionaire hotspot in a report by a property website company called PrimeLocation – think of them as an upmarket version of RightMove. Yes, Virginia Water is home to a higher proportion of million pound homes – those properties valued at £1 million or above – than anywhere else in the country.
Seven of the UK’s top ten millionaire towns are unsurprisingly located in the South East – which is the wealthiest region in the UK in terms of property with the most million pound homes in the UK.
With a staggering 49% of homes in Virginia Water valued at £1 million or more, this hugely affluent area now has the highest proportion of million pound homes in the country.
Closely behind Virginia Water is Radlett, a North London overspill town in Hertfordshire, where 47% of the housing stock is worth £1million or more. Home to Chelsea Football Club’s training ground, Cobham is third in the table with 40% of homes reaching the £1 million price point.
There are a number of factors that have led these towns to become millionaire hotspots. Most of these areas are home to a high proportion of luxurious and spacious properties set in a peaceful and exclusive environment, within easy commuting distance of London.
Of course there are plenty of properties worth way more than £1 million in Virginia Water, and it is an affluent area with lots of detached houses so the report isn’t that surprising.
